CHAIR founders Sophie & Melissa met in a frenetic London upholstery workshop, bursting with fresh ideas and a shared passion to transform tired furniture into coveted objects of beauty. After their initial training, Sophie went onto London Metropolitan University whilst Melissa honed her skills with couture upholsterer Aiveen Daly. Experience and inspiration: CHAIR was born.

Sustainability and individuality are the foundations of CHAIR. By refurbishing only antique, vintage and pre-owned furniture, they offer unique and cleverly designed pieces that instantly transform an interior. Yet what sets CHAIR apart from the local upholsterer, is a passion to deliver a comprehensive design experience without interior designer fees.

Sophie and Melissa's bespoke design consultancy is underpinned by a mixture of highly skilled modern and traditional techniques that deliver stunning, stylish pieces in sympathy with their original shape and period. The personal relationship formed with each client is paramount to the process. By establishing rapport and empathy, a finish is achieved that restores the integrity of the piece, defines the character of the owner and proudly displays their style. Ultimately and most importantly, a connection between the chair and the owner is achieved.
